A chiller tank spends its life cold, often with condensation on the outside and a coil in the middle. Swhift builds the vessel, the coil and the jacket as one job.
What Water Chiller Tanks are for
A chiller tank buffers the cold. Rather than cycling a refrigeration system every time demand moves, the tank holds a volume of chilled water so the plant sees a steady supply and the compressor runs in longer, more efficient blocks.
That duty puts specific demands on the vessel: an internal coil or a jacket to move heat, insulation so the cold stays where it is wanted, and a material that tolerates constant condensation on the shell without staining or corroding.
We build the vessel, fabricate the heat exchange coil, and fit insulated jacketing — all in the same shop, so the coil actually fits the tank it was drawn for.

Water Chiller Tanks: common questions
Coil, jacket, or both?
A coil puts the heat transfer surface inside the liquid, which is efficient and easy to service through a manway. A jacket keeps the refrigerant circuit outside the product, which some food and beverage work requires. We build both — tell us the constraint and we will recommend one.
Do you insulate the tank?
Insulated jackets are available, and they are worth specifying on chilled service. Without them a cold tank sweats, which means dripping onto whatever is below it and a continuous heat gain you are paying to remove.
Can you build to a glycol loop specification?
Yes. Send the loop details — fluid, concentration, temperatures and flow — with your quote request and we will size the coil and specify the connections to match.
How big can these get?
Our cylindrical stock chart goes to 60 in. diameter and roughly 1,900 gallons, and rectangular tanks go to 3,231 gallons. Larger is a conversation about what fits in your space and on a truck — call us and we will work through it.
